The Lugger Inn

I had to go through my bank to get my money back, and it took weeks. The Lugger Inn didn't respond to my calls or emails asking for a refund, despite the accommodation having already been paid for. I stayed at the pub in Dec 25 after booking and paying weeks ahead through a well-known third party. At arrival, a woman asked if I had paid. I showed her the receipt, and she confirmed the payment was there. At checkout, though, I watched two other couples face the same problem: they were being asked to pay again despite having receipts too. A staff member blamed a computer system that wasn't working properly and said the accommodation charge would be removed. They also tried to add unexplained in-room food charges to one couple's bill. Then a third couple raised the same issue, with extra charges being requested even though they'd paid already. When I checked out, the bar staff member confirmed my bill was paid, took a screenshot of my receipt for the manager, and offered to let me wait for her. The manager was supposed to arrive in half an hour, so I waited even though we were in a hurry. She still hadn't arrived by 10:15, after her expected 10 o'clock start, and we had to leave. The employee apologised and said it seemed to be a system error, took my number, and promised the manager would call. No one did. A couple of days later, my credit card showed another accommodation payment, entered manually by the Lugger Inn. I eventually got reimbursed by my bank. This felt like a disgraceful, thieving business, and I'd avoid it. I also heard three staff members complaining that manager Rachel was late, didn't do her job, and failed to get back to customers. I can't understand how they keep running a business like this.

We were looking for somewhere near Littlesea while visiting family there, because our motorhome needed a new clutch and Haven wouldn't be flexible about booking dates on site. This pub worked out well. The room was clean and comfortable, the food was good and fairly priced, and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout. The atmosphere was great, and I'd definitely recommend staying here.

I've been to The Lugger Inn three times now, and it was just as good again. Liam and the staff were welcoming and friendly, and our room was spacious and clean. My friend and I had a great time listening to the live bands over the weekend. The food was excellent for the price, and the whole place felt warm and inviting. Looking forward to coming back.

The evening meals were really good, and the room was nice, though the bathroom felt a bit cramped. It's a quiet location, but there's not much nearby. Overnight guests don't get breakfast, and taxis seem hard to find on Saturday mornings.
