The owner has clearly put a lot of work into building a lovely business, and it really shows. We were staying in the village during a bike trip when our host suggested The Saxon Inn. It was a great tip: the place is lovely and the food is restaurant quality. We’ll come back next time we’re in the area.

The staff made us feel very welcome and looked after us attentively. We had a beautiful meal in a lovely, warm pub, with gorgeous decor and a beautiful fire. We’ll definitely come back on our next visit to dorset!

The team made the meal feel memorable, and we can’t wait to return. The food was outstanding, and everyone was so welcoming that we felt right at home. Thanks to the whole team.

We loved how thoughtful and well put together everything felt, with each detail arranged just right. And breakfast was delicious. I especially recommend Sarah's scrambled eggs! The hospitality made us feel right at home, more like we were staying in someone's house than at a B&B. We’ve already recommended you to several people who may be visiting the area. It was a real delight, and we’ll be back.

The T bone was good, though not brilliant, and I’d suggest sticking to a smaller sirloin or fillet. The scallops and lamb that two others had were delicious. Vegetables were cooked perfectly, and the chips were great, though a little too salty for me. That’s personal preference, and I’m sure plenty of people would be happy with them. The menu was limited, but there should be something for everyone to enjoy or try. In my experience, a smaller menu means food cooked fresh and, more importantly, good quality. I’ve seen comments about the price of asparagus, and I can see both sides. Supermarket prices are easy to compare with, but pubs are facing higher labour, energy and rates costs. If we don’t support them, we could lose them. It’s a charming little pub tucked away in a charming Dorset village, though getting into the car park is a bit of a squeeze. Inside, the Inn was full of character and spotless, even the toilets, and the other customers were very polite. The staff were brilliant last night, from the bar to the table service. The owners are clearly working extremely hard to make the business succeed. I really respect their attention to detail and all the effort they put in for us. I wish everyone at the Saxon Inn the success they deserve. Good luck going forward. Regards, David.
