I’m local and have been coming to the Red Lion in Chipping Campden for years. It’s always got a great atmosphere, whether you stop for a quick drink or settle in for a long meal. The place has character and feels warm and welcoming, just what I want from a proper Cotswold pub. The food is consistently excellent, with fresh tasting ingredients, generous portions and pub classics done really well. The menu feels thoughtful, not generic. The Sunday roast is one of the best around, definitely worth planning your day around.

The food was lovely and the portions were really good. We visited on both evenings while staying nearby, going back the second night because the staff were so friendly and attentive. Saj & Matt and Carolina, thanks very much. The pub is beautiful, set in idyllic surroundings, and the staff were 10/10. We’d definitely come back and recommend it ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The comfortable bed couldn’t make up for the room’s poor condition. We found crumbs in the carpet, long hairs in the bathroom and dust covering the surfaces when we arrived. The room was freezing too. When we told the staff, they acted surprised and offered nothing beyond an empty apology. For the high price, the poor maintenance and dismissive staff are unacceptable. The lack of in-room WiFi seems to be a long-standing issue being passed off as a “temporary technical problem,” a claim contradicted by months of similar guest reviews. I can’t recommend this hotel.

We were just driving through when we decided to stop for lunch. It was charming and delicious, and we sat by a warm fire and enjoyed chatting with the staff. We tried the lunch menus, and the steak sandwich was the winner. Highly recommend stopping in!

Red Lion is right on the High Street in the centre of Chipping Camden, with a great location. It’s a large, rambling pub, and the two nights I stayed were really enjoyable. My room was spacious and had an en-suite. The new Manager was very friendly and helpful, and the staff were approachable and obliging. The stable bar and large outdoor space are real assets. I’d definitely go again.
