The location is lovely, and the site amenities and add-ons are good. I stayed at Bruern more than ten years ago and thought it was fabulous, but sadly it doesn't seem to have been refurbished since. The upholstery, carpets, woodwork and joinery all look tired and need refreshing. The worst part was a problem with the cooker and not being able to reach anyone for help. There were no instructions, the office was closed, no one answered the emergency phone, and I got no reply to my message even 24 hours later. My poor mother couldn't eat anything cooked for dinner or breakfast until our taxi driver came to the rescue and fixed it. The service was appalling, and the whole experience felt shoddy.
