The Beaufort Hunt

We won't be returning. The Sunday roast was mediocre: the vegetables were overcooked and the gravy was lumpy and unpleasant. The garden room was also very scruffy. We'd hoped to have a family Sunday lunch there, but a family seated close by had young twins who were visibly distressed for over an hour, disrupting us and other diners. Staff didn't address it with them. When we challenged the ongoing disturbance, they treated our group as the problem, apparently because the family were regulars. The parents defended it with "well they are kids" when we spoke to them. I suspect this family could clear a room anywhere through their lack of consideration. The staff seemed untrained in customer service and kept defending their own behaviour while suggesting we were at fault. We have children ourselves and understand that distressed young infants can disrupt other customers. The way this was handled just added insult to injury. 😒

I only popped in for a lunchtime pint. It was pretty quiet, though the old building is lovely and the service was fine. Maybe I should go back when it's busier.

Lovely place, good beer (doombar), and top-notch service. Looking forward to another visit.

Taking the marquee down this year has opened up the back, but the furniture is pretty tacky. The bigger problem is the limited beer choice, and it isn't particularly local. We live in cider country and have a healthy local beer market, so use them!
