Our Hare room looked over the lawn, and we were lucky to have Debbie looking after us. She has a lovely manner and did her job faultlessly. The three-course Sunday lunch was full of flavour and presented with care, and breakfast was excellent too, with the best black pudding I've tasted. The surroundings and furnishings at Wallwick hall are splendid, and everything was so well maintained. Every staff member was warm and friendly. A brilliant stay from start to finish, the best hotel I can remember. Many thanks.

The six-course tasting menu was the best food we've had in years. The stay was incredible: first-rate service, a fantastic room, great spa treatments and excellent food, with stunning views, lovely grounds and a wonderful atmosphere. The grounds are beautifully renovated. Hadrian's wall and lots of historic sites are close by, and the nearby museum at Vindolanda was very impressive. Thanks so much for looking after us. We'll certainly be back and can't recommend it highly enough!

This is one of the nicest hotels I've stayed at anywhere. There are only 10 bedrooms, so the service feels personal, and the complimentary cocktail at the bar is worth trying. We had one of the 'old' rooms while the bedrooms are being updated, and it was still really nice: a super-comfy bed, smooth, top-quality bedding, a nice tea set, big fluffy white towels and a good shower. The photos online don't do it justice. Downstairs, the decor is stylish and the staff are all very friendly. Food was excellent, and the spa and pool overlooking the garden and countryside are set in a nicely done modern building that contrasts with the old stone hotel. I can't fault it.

We keep coming back, and Thomas is a big part of why. He looks after us with such care and cheer, and remembers our usual orders and requirements from previous visits. The new decor is gorgeous, the staff are welcoming, and the tea and cheese scones are the best. Thanks, Thomas, and all the staff for making this such a lovely experience.

The venue is beautiful and the staff were friendly, but the service was a bit slow and didn't feel four-star. The vegetables were nice, and the cauliflower cheese was delicious. The roast beef wasn't the best, and neither was the crumble. The custard was really runny. We also had a small problem with our bill and are still waiting for an answer. One minor thing outside: the gravel paths are impossible to walk on in heels, according to my wife. They need to train the staff more.
