Half Moon Inn

There were three of us, and we'd booked a table and ordered food. After waiting nearly an hour, we asked how much longer it would be. The server apologised, explaining that the kitchen was very busy, and said she thought our food had already been brought out, even though she'd taken our order herself. She guessed it might be another 5 to 10 minutes, but couldn't guarantee it. Almost 25 minutes passed with no update and still no food. We'd been there an hour and a half by then, and had to leave because of family commitments. We went to the bar to pay for our drinks and let them know we were leaving. A woman wearing a headset appeared and, either having overheard us or been told, loudly cancelled our order over the headset. Other customers looked over, which was uncomfortable because without any context it made us seem awkward. After cancelling it, she turned to us more quietly, apologised and said the kitchen was very busy. While paying, I pointed out that several people who'd arrived after us had been served. Only then did she ask whether we wanted an explanation. I declined, as the order had already been cancelled and it didn't seem useful at that point. If the kitchen had such a big backlog when we arrived, I feel we should have been told when we sat down so we could decide with that information. We suspect our order may have been forgotten, and if so, they could simply have said that. We would've understood the situation better. Maybe we should've asked about the food sooner, but we wanted to be patient because we expected some waiting, just not nearly an hour and a half. It's a shame we left feeling that same consideration wasn't shown to us.

We had a lovely meal at the Half Moon this evening. The staff were attentive, and the food was amazing, restaurant quality with a relaxed gastro pub feel. Highly recommended.

A very welcoming, nice pub. I haven't eaten here yet, but the food looks good. Sunday lunch seems popular, so it's probably best to book a table.

You'll need to book, but it's worth it. The beef was cooked to perfection and melted in the mouth, with bowls of really nice vegetables. Best Sunday lunch I've had in a long time, and the dessert was delicious too.
