The sea view is beautiful, but it doesn’t make up for the poor service. The room was small but nice, and the bed was comfortable. We arrived around 6:30 pm and didn’t feel very welcome: the lady there seemed a little confused and wasn’t very friendly. Breakfast was really disappointing, a huge plate with a small portion of food. I made my own toast from frozen bread. There was a nice board advertising light lunch, but whenever we asked, the staff said the kitchen was closed. The carpet was covered in animal hair.

We came back on Sunday because that Kallacliff Special breakfast was still on our minds. It was a Friday bargain, basically a double English with delicious ingredients. We got a friendly, prompt welcome and a seat outside with a lovely view. The breakfast was beautifully presented and gone in no time, with a lot of care clearly put into it. Highly recommend. Saffron the lovely dog may come over for a scratch, and we were happy to see her; she was friendly and kept the stray seagulls away.

We only stopped to eat in the conservatory on 9 September 2020, so this is just what I noticed. The staff were incredibly welcoming and the food was really nice and reasonably priced. The hotel feels homely, without any airs and graces, and the rooms looked spacious, with very comfortable beds. From the outside it looks nice, though inside it could use some care. The stair carpet was grubby and could do with replacing, and a bit of paint would freshen the stairs up. The upstairs toilet was tiny, with a broken window, and needs work. That's about all the negative things I noticed.

We had a lovely sea-facing room, and Colin & Liz were attentive, helpful hosts who looked after all our needs. Nadine and the rest of the staff were brilliant too. There was plenty of choice at breakfast and the food was excellent. I highly recommend staying at the Kallacliff, I couldn't fault anything.

The young staff were really friendly and helpful when we ordered takeaway, then ended up eating in. Both the roast dinners and sandwiches are lovely, with generous portions and fresh, tasty ingredients. It's a shame the place is closing next March. Hopefully they'll keep making their delicious home-cooked food in the future.
