The breakfast was a real highlight, cooked very well, with eggs just right and crispy bacon. The B&B dining room is at the back, overlooking a little garden, and there’s a small cafe on the ground floor. It’s a small but perfectly formed place on the little high street in Church Stretton, handy for an annual boys’ trip to Shropshire. Our rooms were clean and the beds comfortable. I did soak the bathroom trying to shower with the attachment because there wasn’t a curtain around the bath. Thanks to the staff. If I take on another 16km walk over steep hills, I’ll stay at Victoria House again.

Right in the centre of Church Stretton, Victoria House is a real gem, the sort of place you hope to find but rarely do. Booking was quick and easy, and we got a genuinely warm welcome. The rooms are stylish and warm, with a coffee maker, kettle, biscuits, mini fridge and a complimentary decanter of sherry. When did you last have a glass of sherry? Delicious! There was a wide range of breakfast options, and the full English was freshly cooked and fantastic. Diane and her team have made this a compelling place to stay, and they deserve every success. I’ll definitely return, and might even bring my dog next time. Easily 5 stars, thanks for such a wonderful stay.

The staff were all kind and helpful, and parking was convenient in a nearby inexpensive public lot. We had a lovely stay at Victoria House, centrally located in the picture postcard village of Church Stretton, in the heart of Shropshire and surrounded by some of England’s most beautiful, unspoiled countryside.

I was exhausted and needed a rest on the way back from tour with the band, and this place was brilliant. The room was lovely, the bath was huge, and breakfast was divine.

Just back from another lovely stay at the Victoria house. Diane and the whole team deserve credit for making it such a nice experience. The little touches are lovely, like fresh milk and a sweet little decanter of sherry in the rooms. As usual, breakfast was superb, piping hot and freshly cooked. Looking forward to returning.
