Holiday Inn Nottingham by IHG

We had a lovely stay, with friendly staff, good food, and a nice time in the bar. Nothing to fault while we were there 😀 Then, a couple of weeks later, we got a £60 parking fine, even though we'd paid for 24 hours. We'd entered the wrong leaving time in the computer and didn't know how to change it. I'd be much happier if parking were added to the hotel bill. This parking system puts us off staying in hotels. This isn't meant to upset the staff. We just want to help prevent anyone else getting more fines.

We only stayed one night for a concert at Rock City, and I left wishing we could have stayed longer. The place looked beautiful, clean, and luxurious, and the food was excellent. My partner especially loved the spicy sauce with his evening meal. Everyone we met, including the domestic staff, was friendly, polite, and helpful. Luca (not sure of correct spelling) was a brilliant host and knew a lot about the area, especially where to find the cheapest taxis. We'd happily stay here again if the chance comes up.

At £160 a night, this was an expensive two day stay, and I still got a £100 parking fine despite paying an extra £10 for parking. You'd think parking would be free at that price. The parking company hasn't responded. At check in, I was given the wrong room type. I only got the one I'd booked and paid for after showing screenshots, because the online booking receipt had changed that day. The room was clean, but the shower was useless, barely warm and with only a trickle of water.

The bed was comfortable, with cotton sheets, and the HVAC system let me get the temperature right. The shower was warm, but stuck in an 'eco' mode. To get reliably wet, I had to stand right next to the thermostatic valve. The gym was passable, with just running machines and some light free weights. There's a Pure Gym a short walk away if you want to do strength training. There's no pool either. Taking those facilities into account, the hotel feels more like a Holiday Inn Express.
