The New Inn

Marie looked after us at lunch today, and her service was outstanding. She was so kind and helpful, which makes a real difference when you’re eating out. We’ve stayed overnight here and eaten here a few times on our Cotswolds visits. The food has always been delicious, and in summer it’s a wonderful spot to sit outside. We love this Inn.

The chicken burger is the reason I’ve made the trip from London for four years running. We’ve also stayed at the pub for a night or two, and it’s always been a fantastic visit. Colbnis is peaceful and quiet, with lovely walks and cows to see, and I love the town. The beds are really comfortable too. We tend to order a few starters and drinks, then finish with dessert, but I always come back to that burger. It’s incredible, the best I’ve ever had. The Greek and smashed burgers we tried were great as well, though neither came close to the chicken one. My husband even went into the kitchen on our last visit to compliment the chefs in person. That’s how good it is. Honestly, it may be the best burger in England, maybe even the world.

The tuna tartare was to die for. It’s a cosy place, and the food is delicious. The menu brings together modern, inventive flavours and classic dishes done really well. I’d recommend ordering a few small plates to share and try a bit of everything.

Coming back to the village in the evening was one of my favourite parts of our Cotswolds trip. The New Inn at Coln has a calm feel, beautiful surroundings and a lovely warm atmosphere in the bar, where we wanted to linger each night. It’s only about a 10-minute drive from livelier places to explore and eat, but it felt good to return somewhere quiet and rest our minds. Our room was cosy, stylish and very comfortable, with thoughtful details. Breakfast was fresh, well prepared and excellent. We chose this over one of the more crowded tourist hotels nearby, and it turned out to be one of the best decisions of our trip. The peaceful village setting, comfort and food made our stay special. I’d definitely recommend The New Inn at Coln to anyone visiting the area.
