Barnfields Retreat

The hosts really care about their guests, and we got more than we expected from the VIP service. The room was a good size and the location suited us well. Thanks, John and Elizabeth, for the great hospitality.

The grounds were beautiful, with plenty of space to walk around and a duck pond at the end. I love nature, so that was lovely. Our room was clean, quiet and a good size, the bed was comfortable, and the balcony was a nice touch. We watched the sunset there with complimentary tea. Breakfast was fresh and had lots to choose from. The hosts were lovely, and their little dog Minty was so adorable I could have taken her home ❤️ My husband and I stayed overnight for our second anniversary, after a BBQ at my dad's. Gran had the kids for the night, and it seemed silly to drive all the way back to Suffolk without making a night of it. Everywhere was sold out, so I'm really glad I found this little GEM. We'll definitely come again.

John was friendly and welcoming, but the room hygiene was very poor. There was lots of dust and clumps of hair, rubbish under the bed, cobwebs, limescale and coffee stains. We also planned on having a hot bath after our evening out, then found there were no bath taps, which was surprising since there was a bath and plug. Barnfield retreat has a lot of potential, but needs plenty of TLC. We stayed for one night and unfortunately won't return.

The hotel is quiet and has beautiful views, a lovely setting for bird spotting. Breakfast was continental and had plenty of choice, which suited us. We only stayed one night, and John and Elizabeth were very friendly and accommodating, always ready to help. Thank you both for the warm welcome.
