The room and service at 12-14 Ellis Road were grim. The wallpaper was peeling, the cramped space smelled damp, and the bed felt like a bag of rocks. The sheets seemed freshly slept in, as if they'd just been flipped over from the last guest. There was mould in the bathroom and the shower only trickled lukewarm water. I felt dirtier after using it. Stained bedding, pillows and floor, broken furniture, and dodgy electrics all added to the filthy, unsafe feel. The person who greeted me seemed annoyed I was there, and requests for help got grunts and blank stares. The general atmosphere was one of neglect and apathy. Wi-Fi was a joke, and breakfast was apparently just stale cereal and instant coffee. The advertised sea view was a tiny grey sliver, if you leaned out of the grime-coated window and craned your neck left past the industrial estate. The area felt forgotten and a bit dodgy. The sea may technically be nearby, but getting there means a long, depressing walk past boarded-up shops and overflowing bins. I nearly tripped on the unsafe-looking entrance step as I came in. This place ruined a significant part of my trip and left me feeling ripped off and itchy. It's a disaster and an insult for the money. Book anywhere else, even sleeping on the beach would be better.

Mould covered the bathroom, and the sheets, pillows and floor were stained. Furniture was broken, and the room was dirty, draughty and felt unsafe. Disgusting and unhealthy. They should be ashamed of themselves.

There were bed bugs and dirt everywhere, with damp, a strong smell of urine and other things coming through the pipes, and dodgy electrics. The security guard, who was also doing DIY and everything else, was very rude and arrogant, as was his obnoxious wife. A 10:30 PM curfew meant the doors were locked, so we couldn't enjoy what the town had to offer. The owner was rude and only interested in money, with no care for guests. Young female residents were there, and people were banned from talking on or within 30 feet of the property. I'll never stay there again. I don't know who they bribed to get on the trust list. The Beeches on Ellis road, Clacton on sea is definitely not luxury or kid friendly. Steer clear. Score out of 10: -100.

The room only cost for 12 hours, from 22:00 to 10:30, wasn't worth it. A third-party booking error happened, and both sides took advantage of the policy. On the phone they were very rude and unprofessional, with no empathy or care for the service, just quick and easy money. It's definitely not three star quality, and feels more like a hostel with location as its only advantage.

What you see advertised is nothing like what you get when you arrive. It's vile, disgusting and atrocious, and definitely not suitable for families with kids, business stays or emergency accommodation. Bed bugs, loud noise and staff favourites are a problem here. Calling it loud is an understatement. Avoid it at all costs, I would absolutely not recommend it.
