There are several lovely paintings around the place. It’s a wonderful lodge for the price on bookings.com, with two bedrooms and an open-plan kitchen, and it’s in a great location.

The views are stunning, and the lodge is in a great location, so it’s well worth a look. Inside it’s basic but adequate, and the kitchenette is fully equipped, though preparing meals can be tricky because there isn’t much worktop space. Outside there’s a patio and gravel, but no grassy area. It’s still fine for a short stay. A water treatment plant is just up the lane, and a few times late at night and early in the morning, water tankers thundered past and shook the whole lodge, waking me up. There are still some lovely views.
