Clerk Laithe Lodge

The home cooked dinner was a real treat. We loved the vegetable hotpot and cheese and onion pie, some of the best meals we’ve had in years. Breakfast was lovely too, and the coffee had enough strength to wake us up for the road. Mathew and Helena made us feel very welcome, and the location is beautiful. I’ve stayed at dozens of B&Bs all over the UK, and this is one of the best. We’d visit again if we’re passing through.

We stopped here during our cycling tour, and what a find. Matthew was a brilliant host with a great sense of humour. Helena (I think?) cooked us a lovely evening meal, which you need to pre-book, as well as breakfast. Just superb, and I can't recommend this B&B enough.

The small bar downstairs was a nice extra, with beer, wine or softdrink available for a small fee. Our room was large, clean and tidy, with great views, a comfy bed, tea and biscuits, television and good WiFi. Breakfast was excellent, made with the best local ingredients. Matthew and Helena were lovely hosts. When we checked out, we even left with a box of tomatoes, cucumbers and courgettes from their garden. We used this as a stop over for a lovely meal at the nearby Parkers Arms. Great location, rooms, hosting and food, all for a humble price. Best B and B we’ve ever stopped in.

We arrived late, but the host still made us some wonderful sandwiches. The room was clean and the bed really comfortable. Lovely setting, welcoming and friendly hosts, and a fantastic breakfast. Very highly recommended.
