The Hardgate House Hotel

Brilliant pub and hotel, with a great atmosphere and a great bunch of customers. The weekend acts are brilliant too, and the staff are fantastic 👏.

This was a horrible, stressful two-day stay, and I definitely wouldn’t recommend this ghost hotel. We seemed to be the only guests, got a different room from the one we booked, and it didn’t have the basics: no hair dryer, only decaf coffee and no fridge. The lifts didn’t work, there was nobody in the office, and staff were nowhere to be found when we needed them. When we arrived, the function room DJ staff sent us to the bar instead of the hotel entrance. Someone from the bar eventually checked us in, but we waited ages. Our car got scratched in the hotel car park, and despite cameras everywhere, staff weren’t helpful about finding out who did it. The function hall wasn’t mentioned in the booking, and noise went on past midnight both nights, so we couldn’t sleep. We also weren’t happy with the location, with only a few takeaways and a tired pub nearby. We got takeaway food that was very oily and threw up. It’s one of the worst places I’ve stayed.

The rooms are nice, the staff are welcoming, and there’s a great pub downstairs. The place is spotless and freshly done out. Couldn’t ask for more!

The room was beautiful, freshly done out, and I had a perfect night’s sleep. It’s the cleanest place I’ve stayed in for a long time, and the people were lovely. There’s a friendly bar downstairs with a quality pool table, and all the amenities are close by, including Tesco and lots of takeaways. 12/10.
