Croft Guesthouse

We were visiting Cockermouth for my brother's daughter's wedding, and my wife, sister and I first booked two nights. We liked it enough to add a third. The location worked really well, with shops, a supermarket, restaurants, pubs and the usual high street shops all within walking distance. The rooms looked superb, from the decor and design to the quality of the fittings. My wife even took photos to copy some of the furnishings at home. The bathroom was just as well finished, with lovely soaps and bubble bath, and parking was available. Breakfast was among the best I've had, even after staying in hundreds of UK hotels for work. The bacon, sausage and eggs were cooked just how you wanted, and there was a continental option too. Nothing felt like too much trouble. The two owners make a great team, and we'll stay again. Highly recommended.

The hosts made us feel so welcome, and the guest house is close enough to town for an easy wander and browse. Our room was gorgeous and had everything we needed. Breakfast was fresh, well cooked and had lots to choose from, including daily specials. I had the lemon pancakes, which were delicious. Best guest house we've stayed in, hands down. We loved our three nights here and would happily come back next time we're in The Lake District. The room was small but perfectly formed, the breakfasts were fabulous, and the hosts were great. We'd definitely recommend staying.

Glynis's marmalades were a treat, especially the whisky one we bought, easily the best I've tasted. The guest house was spotless, the hosts were fantastic and breakfast was the best. Great value too. I'll definitely recommend it.
