King William

We won’t be going back. For my friend’s birthday lunch at the king william, we ordered a bottle of prosecco and recognised the Asda label when it arrived. The bill was £26, even though the bottle costs £6 at Asda. My friend emailed the manager, who confirmed they’d bought it from Asda after running out of their usual supply. She apologised, but said they had to charge that much to cover overheads. Disgusting to charge £26 for a cheap £6 bottle.

The walls are thin, so maybe pack earplugs. Someone next door could be making tea at 6am and stirring the cup forever. Still, it’s a nice, quiet pub and a great hotel if you want to stay outside Luton. I was there for work and expect I’ll use it plenty more times. There’s a nice bar and restaurant, so it’s easy to get a beer and food, plus safe parking.

The only little snag was the sink, which was small and clogged up. Otherwise, I loved the stay. The room was cosy, clean and just the right size, with a comfy bed and a great bathroom. Check-in was great too. Perfect for a night.

Wouldn’t recommend it at all before a flight. We stayed the night before an early one and hardly slept because very loud music carried on past 11. The rooms were grotty, tired and smelly. Awful experience.
