Milsoms

We’ve stayed here twice now, mainly because it’s so close to Dedham village. The hotel sits in beautiful grounds, and I can only imagine how the gardens look in full bloom. Our room was a good size and tastefully decorated, with a mini fridge, tea and coffee facilities, and complimentary water for each guest. The staff are polite, friendly and helpful. Breakfast is extremely good, and there’s plenty of parking.

We’re still here, and so far our first wedding anniversary stay at Milsoms has been perfect. My husband booked it for us, and the restaurant greeted us with two glasses of prosecco when we sat down. When we ordered dessert, they took the time to decorate it for our anniversary. The staff are attentive and polite, and the rooms and food are amazing. We love it and are definitely hoping to come back. I’d recommend it to anyone.

The library is useful for work meetings. We’ve hired it for a full day, and the staff were attentive and happy to serve lunch there instead of in the main restaurant. I do find the library chairs extremely uncomfortable, and some of the decor needs refreshing. For lunch or an evening meal, though, I’ve been here many times over the years and it’s always a good choice. Food quality and service are consistently great. The menu changes regularly while keeping some firm favourites.

I still enjoyed my evening at Milsoms, though I was disappointed to see customer favourites like “Lamb shanks” missing from the menu. I’m not sure when it changed, but the choices felt a bit limited. I’ve always thought of Milsoms as a special place to eat, a step up from the restaurant chains. The wine list was eye-wateringly expensive, though maybe that’s just me being a tight northerner.
