Higham Place Lodge

Chris, the estate manager, is incredibly kind and helpful. Higham Lodge is a lovely, quiet spot with beautiful surroundings, yet pubs, restaurants and walks are all close by. A wonderful place to stay.

The cottage was lovely, well equipped and in a great location. Our host was friendly and helpful throughout. If every AirB&B is like this, I’d happily use one again!

We had a really lovely stay and would happily come back. The Lodge was warm and had that comfortable, lived-in home-from-home feel, and the location worked well for day trips to Felixstowe, Clacton and Colchester. Dogs were welcome despite the mostly white furnishings and carpets, and the garden was enclosed and pet-safe. The house was much bigger than it first seemed, with large rooms appearing around every turn. All three double bedrooms were bright and lovely, with comfortable beds and plenty of pillows and towels. One also had a nice en suite with a large shower. The family bathroom was beautifully finished, with a bath and shower, toilet, basin and heated towel rail. I did have a little trouble reaching the shower nozzle. Maybe the builder was tall, like whoever put the wall cupboards up! The kitchen had all the usual things, including an oven, fridge freezer, toaster and microwave, plus a dishwasher and washing machine. The wall cupboards were high, so I put the treats on their shelves to make them harder for my daughter in law to reach. When we arrived for my birthday treat with family, there was a lovely vase of fresh flowers and a beautiful hamper waiting for us.
