Breakfast was the last disappointment after an already poor stay. We found no sign showing the serving hours, and I’d checked online and seen 11am, as on my other weekend stays with Premier Inn. So we arrived at 10:15 expecting to eat, only to be told breakfast had stopped at 10. I’ve stayed with Premier Inn more than 50 times and usually had good experiences. The room was clean and tidy, and housekeeping was fine, but the service here was easily the worst I’ve had with the chain. We arrived around 10pm with a family room booked, but our daughter’s spare bed wasn’t made and there was no bedding. Reception was empty, and after waiting to find help, I was given sheets and had to make the bed myself late at night. The room also had a loud noise, seemingly from the air conditioning or ventilation, that made it hard to sleep. Despite the advertised “Good Night Guarantee,” nobody offered compensation or even a goodwill gesture. I’ve never before had to complain about sleep or ask for anything back, and I wasn’t trying to get a freebie. I’ve kept choosing Premier Inn because it had been reliable for me. I didn’t see anyone at reception when we arrived, when I tried to raise concerns, during the breakfast problem, or at checkout the next morning. The head office response was disappointing too. It suggested some issues hadn’t been raised during the stay, even though my complaint had explained there was rarely anyone available to speak to. After so many good stays, I feel let down by this visit and by the lack of care afterwards. I won’t be returning.

Breakfast was excellent, and the staff were really friendly. The hotel’s in a great spot and was pretty decent overall. My room looked a little worn, though there seemed to be renovation work happening on the floor above. It was handy that I could bring takeaway food back to my room. You just pick it up in the lobby. I’d recommend the place for solo travellers.

The manager was clearly involved in everything. I saw them keeping an eye on breakfast, arranging a taxi for a guest when the company wasn’t answering, and then cleaning up a spill. Breakfast was very good too. We were in town for a family wedding and stayed two nights. The location worked well, within walking distance of the Town Hall and right beside a lovely park. Our room and bed were comfortable, though the bed was a little high for one of us. We appreciated being able to choose daily room cleaning. We didn’t try the evening meal, so I can’t comment on that. We had a very good stay.

The hotel and its staff were nice. Parking was the one downside. If you can’t get a space on site, you have to use the nearby NCP. The layout could work better if people parked properly: a Mini was taking up two spaces, and there was a skip in one spot and a generator in another. I also wondered why there were so many disabled bays, unless they’re expecting Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Vans.

The people here made the stay so nice. Everyone we dealt with was lovely and helpful, from the front desk to the restaurant team, chefs included. Really appreciate all their hard work, thank you!
