We were thrilled with our wedding reception at the fabulous Blue Anchor. Planning went smoothly from the start, with excellent communication throughout. Angela was a star, attentive and helpful, and made everything feel easy. The Olive Garden looked wonderful for the reception, and service for us and our guests was impeccable. The food was outstanding, and the event ran so smoothly that we didn't have to think about a thing. The staff knew the schedule perfectly. We stayed overnight in one of the rooms, and were delighted to find it decorated for our wedding night. Such a lovely surprise that made us feel special. We can't recommend The Blue Anchor enough, and we'll definitely be back for more delicious food.

The Sunday lunch was delicious, and it's one of our favourite places to come back to. The food was beautifully cooked and presented. Staff were friendly, helpful, and very professional. The room felt cosy without being cramped, and the chic decor was done with good taste. We'd highly recommend it.

This is a fabulous restaurant, and my favourite in Essex. I've been many times, including yesterday, when I came with my elderly in-laws for a table of four. The staff are always lovely, the food is excellent, and the atmosphere is consistently pleasant and cosy. No complaints at all. Top quality.

The restaurant food is always excellent, but I was disappointed by the double room and wouldn’t return for a stay. It felt overpriced for a small, dingy space packed with furniture. The decor needs updating, some bulbs didn’t work, and the tired ensuite was so cramped I couldn’t sit straight on the toilet. There was a tea and coffee tray but no milk. With no overnight staff, check-in was at the restaurant bar and a bar worker showed me to the room. There was no phone.
