The hotel is well placed on North Hill, right in the centre and within walking distance of Colchester's attractions. I had a comfortable bed and found the staff accommodating. There’s a good pan-Asian restaurant downstairs. A lovely overnight stay, and I’d definitely return.

We booked the bar and conservatory for my daughter’s 18th, and the venue was perfect. Staff were extremely helpful, and the pan-Asian buffet food was really tasty. A few family members stayed at the hotel too. They had comfy beds, good showers and a great breakfast. Highly recommended!

There was only one plug socket by the desk, so bedside sockets and more comfortable pillows would’ve helped. The room itself was surprisingly small for the price, although the bathroom was huge. It was also tricky to find the hotel entrance without a clear sign. The lamps were hard to switch on, and some instructions would be useful.

The room was wonderful in every other way, but I slept badly because there was no soundproofing and the people in the room below were very noisy and inconsiderate. With soundproofing, I’d have given it the maximum stars.

We stayed the night before my son’s 11plus exam at Colchester Grammar school. The room was a bit small but clean, and the receptionist was helpful and caring when we arrived.
