The Plough Inn Cold Aston

On a perfect autumn day, it could have been lovely, which made it a shame that they didn’t seem very keen to serve us or smile. There was no coffee, tea, or food.

I was walking around cold Aston when I came across the plough. I loved the owners and am really excited to see what they do with this amazing little pub.

The manager was so welcoming and thoughtful. After I booked in March, they sent a lovely welcome email, then checked in with helpful arrival details this morning. They also let me check in early, which meant a lot after traveling from Melbourne while we’re still adjusting to the time difference. Getting into the room sooner gave us a much-needed chance to rest. When the manager learned we’d be leaving before breakfast tomorrow, he kindly offered complimentary croissants to take along. Such a generous gesture. The hotel is full of character, with cosy decor and a historic but inviting feel. Every detail made me feel like I’d stepped into a classic English film, a dream I’ve had for years. It’s a six-minute drive from Burton-on-the-Water, which is handy for exploring the Cotswolds. I absolutely loved this place. If you want to experience the beauty and warmth of the English countryside, it feels like a perfect choice. I’m having dinner at the hotel restaurant tonight and will update my review after, but even now I can tell it’ll be a special, unforgettable English night.
