The Waggon & Horses

The rooms were charmingly decorated to suit the age of the building, with nice linen, cosy beds, tea and coffee, and a powerful shower. The menu had lots of choice at reasonable prices, including plenty for the vegan in our group, and the food was excellent with substantial portions. We phoned at the last minute for three rooms and were checked in within half an hour. The team were amazing, welcoming us and talking through breakfast options. Since we had an early start, they even packed us food while we had dinner. It turned out to be a great place to stay.

We stayed for two days for a wedding nearby. The rooms were beautiful and comfortable, and the showers were nice and hot. Breakfast was great each morning. The staff were so friendly and nothing was too much trouble. A big thanks to the housekeeper who handed in the laptop I’d left in my room. I’d definitely recommend staying here if you’re in the area.

We’re in Kidsgrove and have driven past loads of times. Today we spotted kids going in, did a U-turn and took our son in. So glad we did. I usually only order pork when we eat out, and this was the best yet: pork shoulder with cream sauce, AMAZING! My wife’s grilled chicken with truffle leeks was amazing too, and the kids’ menu was great. The hostess was lovely, and there’s a good kids’ area with room to run around and sit outside. We’re coming back for dinner next week. We’ve found our new local!

We needed a place near a wedding last weekend and stayed at the Wagon and Horses. The room was really cosy and had everything we needed for the night. Breakfast was included and excellent, and the overnight price was a real bargain. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
