Holiday Inn Express Exeter East by IHG

We were there after a sudden family emergency, and the night staff were so kind and helpful given the circumstances. I didn't get their names, but we called the guy Jack Black. We stayed Friday the 20th. The room was clean, the bed very comfy, the pillows decent and the shower hot. Breakfast had a great choice, and it felt like management really cares about keeping staff standards high. Jack Black also wished us well, which was thoughtful and meant a lot.

Jordan gave us a great welcome. He tracked down our old membership number, added points to the booking and arranged parking, all with a smile. The place was very clean and felt fairly new. Our budget twin was better than average, and everything in the room was in good shape and working. All the staff were friendly and breakfast was excellent. We'd happily stay again, and highly recommend it.

This worked really well for the airport, only about a five-minute drive away. Check-in was smooth, the room was clean and had what we needed, and breakfast was included. We had to leave at 5.30am, before the full breakfast starts at 6.30, but there were cereals, toast, croissants and hot drinks ready, and the staff member on duty was very attentive. Parking costs £6 if you get a code from reception, but the room rate is very reasonable.

The rooms were clean and comfortable, and breakfast was a good bonus included in the price. The coffee machine was temperamental at times, but the breakfast staff helped get it working. The pancake machine was good too. What really stood out was how kind the staff were throughout our three-night stay in January 2026. Our first room had a bad smell in the bathroom and a small leak. I mentioned it the next morning, and Alex, the hotel manager, moved us right away. He even helped me carry all our luggage while my husband was at work, and offered us a voucher for two drinks. At dinner in the little restaurant, Leigh Anne was friendly and helpful, and happily figured out a custom item for us. My husband had forgotten his Garmin charger and his watch band had run out of power. Craig at reception greeted him with a big smile and asked how he could help. He brought out a box of cables, and there was a Garmin one in it. We're really grateful that the staff went out of their way to make things easy and pleasant. We'll use Holiday Inn express again and hope the others have staff like these.
