My room was the nicest I’ve stayed in, with a huge bathroom that had both a bath and a walk-in shower. The tea rooms are quaint and beautiful, and the staff are brilliant. The cafe next door was just as good, with a lovely cooked breakfast that you can’t fault ❤️

The High Street location is nice, but the accommodation was terribly maintained. The room was extremely dirty, with hair, dust, and crumbs all over the floors. The towels smelled and weren’t white anymore, and the mattress was old. We went to the supermarket to buy cleaning supplies and cleaned the sticky doors and bathroom ourselves. In the end, we left and accepted losing the money we’d paid for two nights. A horrific place, if you ask me. They show no pride in their work.

We arrived back one evening and spotted what looked like a large object on the floor. It was a cockroach. We disposed of it and went to sleep, but about half an hour later we saw another, then another. We put a towel under the main door and tried again to sleep. Around another half hour later, we saw two more heading toward the bath. There seemed to be a significant infestation. When I went into the corridor to find the out-of-hours number, I noticed two more cockroaches. That corridor leads to the back of the ‘Love to eat Café’. We tried calling the out-of-hours numbers but got little response, so we packed and left. We went to a local McDonalds for coffee and to make a plan, then returned around 9am, when the restaurant was due to open, to speak to staff. We asked the Café server if we could speak privately outside. She spoke with us briefly and went back in, but we waited another 15 minutes without a response. They were short staffed, as the same server who checked us in the day before had mentioned. I went back into the café while other customers were having breakfast and asked for the manager. She couldn’t come out because she was busy cooking. About 10 minutes later she finally joined us outside. Her attitude and lack of sympathy were astonishing. She didn’t apologize and tried to justify the cockroaches by citing the town’s historic status and local economy. There was no consolation, just excuses, and she showed no accountability or concern when I pointed out a dead cockroach outside the café door. She first proposed refunding one night of our two-night stay because we’d used the room for part of our stay, even though we’d been at McDonalds from 4am. She said she couldn’t authorize it without speaking to the owner. We left shortly after and then got a call from the manager authorizing a full refund, to our relief. I can only presume we were unlucky customers who arrived after John, who also found cockroaches in the same ground floor room under the room with the ladder. Avoid this place at all costs. The customer service was shocking, and they knowingly put us in a room with a cockroach infestation. I’m also concerned about food safety at the local café and the people who eat there. They need pest control as soon as possible and should work with their Local Authority on a solution. Our trip to Wales was ruined, and they didn’t care.

The staff were accommodating, hard working, and pleasant, and the full English breakfast was delicious. I asked for a continental breakfast on the second morning, which I enjoyed even more. The B n b is handy for local amenities and the harbour is only a short walk away, so it’s ideal for a weekend stay. We’d booked a clean, well-presented ground-floor room with a bath, but there was an issue. The staff apologized and assured us they were looking into it and would resolve it as soon as possible. They moved us upstairs to another well-presented room that was a little larger and had a balcony. I’d recommend it, especially if the sun’s out.

Lovely place. The only reason I can’t give it five stars is the noisy wine cooler in the room, which was posing as a fridge and woke me up. I eventually switched it off.
