A great spot for a short break, with everything you need, including a wee bar downstairs. The location was fantastic, and both the rooms and breakfast were exceptional.

Breakfast was generous and well cooked, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The location is very central, and the rooms have good space, with a double and single bed. But the pillows were like bricks, honestly the hardest I've ever come across. If they upgraded the bedding, this would be a hard little place to beat.

We were very impressed with our self catering apartment. It was amazingly clean and well equipped, and most nights there was no noise from the bar or other rooms. On Saturday there was a little sound from live music at the bar, but it wasn't intrusive at all. Highly recommended.

We had a relaxed Friday evening here, then came back for the music on Saturday. We’d been staying nearby and, after trying a few bars without knowing where to go, the welcome from the young woman behind the bar, the big fire and the fact we could bring the dog made the choice easy. The singer was great and held onto that lovely Saturday afternoon feeling. Music from 1930 is a good idea for people who don’t want a late night. We only planned to stay briefly, but watched the whole set and went for a late dinner. A great pub find, and we’ll know where to go next time we’re up this way. Hi to Lenny, who made us feel welcome both nights.

Breakfast was good, and the room was nice with a comfortable bed, so that was all fine for an overnight stay. What bothered me was the tea and coffee allowance. There were only four milks and coffee portions, and when I asked for more coffee sachets, I was told that was it once they were used up. That's a bit stingy considering the price of a night's stay.
