I stopped in for Sunday lunch, and it was fantastic. The food wasn't fancy, just good quality and reasonably priced. It's a lovely little pub, and much quieter than you'd expect. I had to drive, so couldn't try the range of beers. I'll leave that for another time.
The staff were very attentive, and the Friday night fish and chips deal was really good. The full menu looked good too. I understand the White Swan has had new management for the last few months, so I decided to give it a go. There are deals on other evenings as well, like Saturday steak offers. I'll try the Sunday lunch next.
The decor and atmosphere were lacking, and the service felt perfunctory. Some of the food was good, especially the fish and chips, but the bread and butter pudding was still frozen. Friday evening dinner was a disappointment overall.
I wanted to book two weekend nights and asked about arriving at midnight on Friday. They said check in closes at 10pm and they couldn't welcome us that late. I asked if they'd make an exception or be flexible, but they said no. I found that underwhelming.
It's a real shame for the village and its community, but this nice looking pub is closed and up for sale or letting. The George & Dragon at Seaton is open and does great food.
