We spent a couple of nights in flat 4. The old house has its quirks, as we'd expected, but the bed wasn't level, so sleeping on a slope was uncomfortable. We couldn't find the bathroom light at first, and the switch was tucked under high cupboards. Its pull cord was broken, so my wife couldn't reach it either. There was no information or instructions about the property, and we arrived to no hot water. When we called, we were told the immersion switch was on the wardrobe wall, an odd place for it. Parking was another disappointment. The listing promised free parking, but when we called, we were told there wasn't any and that we'd need to use pay-and-display car parks near the high street. The advertised coffee machine turned out to be a cafetiere. For what we paid, the stay didn't meet our expectations.

Apartment 6 was nicely furnished and elegant, and the house itself was pleasant, though it could use some paint. Picking up the keys from a combination lockbox was straightforward. The kitchen was the problem. It didn't seem to have been cleaned between guests: the fridge smelled, the bin was filthy, and the cups and glasses had a greasy film. A clean kitchen would have made this a much better stay.

I've stayed in two of the building's flats, and both were well equipped. The central spot is handy for the shops, including the Co-op, greengrocer and butcher. The leisure centre is a 10-15 minute walk away, and the main bus stop is just a few minutes away. There's no parking, though the final details include suggestions for where to park. They usually have the other basics, like a toaster, kettle, cups, plates, cooker and fridge, but I do miss having a teapot. As an avid tea drinker, that's the only way to make a decent cup, and plenty of it! Bed linen and towels are included in the price.

The rooms are a good size and the location is ideal. We had a very nice stay.

It's in a great location, with a comfortable bed and everything needed for self catering. The place is just very dated.
