Corporation Village - Campus Accommodation

For six months, the only real plus was the price. The rest of my experience was poor, from management and maintenance to cleanliness and safety. When I arrived to collect the keys, the room was nowhere near ready. The washroom, kitchen, bed, furniture, and visibly dirty carpet had all been left uncleaned, yet I was handed the keys around 1:00 AM. I had to raise the problem repeatedly by email and in person before anyone acted. When maintenance finally came, they were unprofessional and unhelpful. Management support was weak too. Sai in particular was repeatedly unresponsive, and I felt tenants' concerns were often ignored and that there was clear partiality. Cockroaches were reported without effective action. Noise past midnight was common and quiet hours weren't enforced. The lifts were out of service for over a month, which made living on the fifth floor extremely difficult. I'd urge anyone considering this accommodation to think carefully before booking.

I spent my whole student term in Block A and had a really nice stay. Reception staff Sai, Santhosh, and Malina were lovely and helpful, and management was supportive. The city centre is right there, Coventry Market, West Orchids mall, Playzone, and grocery shops are about a two-minute walk away, and the university is around ten minutes on foot. There’s good security, plus a free gym and an entertainment area with a TT table. Couples can stay if one person is a student. Things do sometimes stop working. Most issues get sorted ASAP, though a few fixes took longer. Aside from that, I didn't have problems and would definitely recommend the property.

The building's security and maintenance have been awful during the nine months I've lived at Corporation Village. The main entrance is often left open, so anyone can get in. In an 11-floor building, usually only one lift is working, and often that one doesn't work properly either. When I first arrived, the bed was old and full of bed bugs rather than being replaced. Water problems keep coming back: there was no hot water for nearly a month, and on several occasions no water at all for 2-3 days. Room lighting is so weak that a torch seems brighter. The corridors are usually filthy, with cans, wrappers, and rubbish scattered around. The kitchen sink clogs almost every week even with little use. If it blocks on a Friday or Saturday, management may leave us waiting until Monday afternoon, unable to cook or wash dishes. They take ages to deal with complaints and don't respond properly. Based on my experience, this has been the worst accommodation in Coventry, and I'd tell new students or anyone moving to Coventry to avoid it.

Residents shouldn't have to live with this kind of fear and stress. Several of us, myself included, have been spoken to in a threatening and disrespectful way by the receptionist Sai. She uses her position to intimidate people, saying she can have them removed if they don't listen to her or pay what she demands. She has repeatedly asked residents for money for basic work that's meant to be part of her job, makes up rules on the spot, and speaks rudely as if she controls everything. Her conduct is abusive and manipulative, far beyond unprofessional, and it's creating a hostile atmosphere that damages residents' peace and trust. I urge management to take strict action immediately. No one should be treated this way.
