Student Only Gulson Gardens

Management are kind, friendly and always ready to help. Most of the space is clean most of the time, but the communal areas can be especially bad at night. Residents don’t seem mindful of others, and half the time there’s no smile or greeting. They leave rubbish behind and don’t keep the shared areas tidy, which affects the accommodation’s presentation and upkeep.

I’m reposting this because I found it among my reviews from a few years ago, and it hadn’t been published. Not sure why Google Policy would block a good review. The Wi-Fi was pretty poor, especially in the common areas and on the sixth floor, so I hope that gets better. Apart from that, I loved living here. It was brand new accommodation and easily the best I’d seen in Coventry. I preferred private housing to uni-owned places, and the location was great, only two minutes from shops and supermarkets. My room was spacious, modern and spotless. The facilities were excellent too, with a well-equipped gym, cosy common rooms, study spaces and an amazing winter garden on the seventh floor. There were always events and activities to join, with new games and things to do all the time. The staff were professional, friendly and always willing to help. Thanks especially to Vicky, Kerry and Darren for being so supportive and approachable. I was sad to see Kerry go, since it was her last day. The night staff, Ali and Manjeet, were brilliant too. A horrible experience. There was no hot water from the taps for weeks during UK winter, so we were left heating kettles to shower. The rooms also weren’t inspected before check-in, and management didn’t seem to care about the tenants. The locks were faulty and could be a safety hazard.

Staff are friendly and helpful. This is the cleanest accommodation in Coventry, and the flexible contracts work really well for international students. Also, free gym membership.
