We had a great meal, my wife enjoying the macaroni and me a lovely chicken madras. The pints of tennents were excellent, with a good choice of ales, and the service was spot on. When we asked Jackie for a taxi number, she explained there weren’t any taxis in Crail. My wife had just had a broken leg and had the pot removed, so walking back to the campsite wasn’t an option. Jackie came back to say she’d arranged a lift for her, and Graham took her back. He was brilliant. Thanks to them both for such amazing service. I’d highly recommend the Golf hotel for food and ale.

They gave us and our dogs a great welcome. Service was quick, and the staff were super friendly. The food was fabulous: the fish platter was excellent, and my wife said the steak pie was one of the best. Thoroughly recommend.

I only visited the restaurant, but gave the rooms five stars to support this brilliant place. The fish and chips I shared were great, well above what I expected from the decor, though the place was really cosy and I liked the Waterloo theme. The soup of the day was just as good. Our server was kind, helpful, and knowledgeable. I love Crail and the hotel’s location, and it looks so cosy that I’m tempted to stay there sometime.

Breakfast was average at best, and a little expensive at £10.50 for the quality of the full breakfast ingredients. The single waitress was fine. The eggs were sitting in oil, the sausages had very little meat, and the hash browns tasted as if everything had been fried in the same oil. The pancakes weren’t cooked through, with batter pooling out when cut. The kitchen is right beside the dining area, so we could hear the cook and staff complaining. One person said they didn’t cook breakfast and asked what was in it. Maybe that explains the meal.

We ate in the lower restaurant, where the seating was comfortable and the staff friendly and helpful. The menu’s small but good, and the food was lovely. The bar area is small, full of character, and it’s dog friendly.
