Student or Z-type accommodation on what used to be a military site, with an area set aside for free accommodation. This isn't a hotel, it's a hostel. The window wouldn't open, and outside it looked over condemned accommodation where kids were playing. I couldn't get out through the window, and the door wouldn't open unless unlocked. Is an emergency escape not mandatory?

This is the newest student dorm on campus and the best one available. The rooms are spacious for one person and have an en-suite bathroom. There's also a kitchen shared by the four or five bedrooms in each zone, where students can cook.

Mitchell Hall is perfectly good enough for parents dropping their kids off at Cranfield Uni. The receptionists are lovely, and breakfast is a great typical English one.

There was no phone signal, so I couldn't get online because the Wi-Fi required a code sent to my mobile. The staff were kind and tried to sort it out, but couldn't. The carpet was stained despite the building being described as refurbished, and the only drinking water was from a tap beside the loo, which felt questionable. The rooms and facilities could have been better. The food was dreadful, and there was nowhere nice to eat or buy food to take back within five miles. At least the staff were really nice.

The view outside was good, and the big glass windows kept insects out, though they don't open. The rooms are nice.
