The food was all made on site and delicious, and the scones were the best we’d ever had. The room for afternoon tea was tasteful, with historic decor and a lovely atmosphere. Aiden, one of the managers, helped us settle in and couldn’t have been more accommodating. After tea, he gave us a tour of the castle, including a chance to go up onto the roof and look out from the ramparts. That was a much appreciated bonus. We came for afternoon tea on my birthday. The reception staff were very friendly and made us feel welcome. We’ll definitely return. We didn’t stay overnight, so please disregard our lack of a rating for the guest rooms. The publicly accessible rooms were first rate.

This was our second stay, and it’s such a lovely place for a break. You get the character of a medieval castle along with top service and home comforts. Aidan, Jenna, the friendly lady at reception and the assistant manager were all extremely helpful and a credit to the castle. The food was delicious, and I recommend joining the daily tour. We love the peacocks too.

We got married at Langley castle and have been coming back every year for over 11 years to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The staff always make us feel welcome, and we have a great time. It’s expensive, but you get what you pay for. Beautiful place, amazing service.

We’d never tried afternoon tea here before, so I wasn’t sure what to expect when I took a friend who’s heading back to New Zealand tomorrow. The surroundings, food and service really impressed us, and I’ll definitely go again. Our friend was overjoyed with the send-off. She said she’d be taking lovely memories of a fabulous afternoon in an impressive, beautiful castle back to New Zealand. Thanks, Lumley Castle.

Stone walls, quiet rooms, and no need to rush. The warm scones, finger sandwiches and sweet course were generous enough that I was already full by the end. Afternoon tea at Langley Castle was a slow, lovely pause, perfect for lingering.
