The room was £125, the most expensive one on the walk, and it did include a very good breakfast at the Best Western across the road. The heating worked well, but the internet kept coming and going and the room felt very tired. It was full, though, so I guess beggars can't be choosers.

We booked here but checked in at The Best Western Hotel across the road. They told us they'd upgraded us, and the room was brilliant and so comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful, and dinner was delicious. I'd highly recommend it.

The location is okay, although it's a detour when you're walking the WHW. Check-in service was poor. Their system showed us in different rooms from the ones we knew we'd booked, even though our confirmation email had the right rooms. They couldn't move us into those rooms and made no effort to sort it out, only saying, “this can happen when you book multiple rooms. It confuses our system”.

After a long hike, I booked a night for my partner and me so we could relax. We paid £115, but delays meant we arrived late. There was nobody at reception, even though we'd been told a later check-in was possible, and staff said they weren't sure how to get us into the room. Once we got in, we found there was no hot water. After we'd walked back and forth in the rain, they told me they didn't know what to do. They fixed it in the morning, so it was fixable, but it seemed they simply didn't want to pay someone to come out. They offered us just £40 off. I don't know who would pay £75 for a poor ground floor room without hot water, but I wouldn't have if I'd known. Trying to get it fixed also kept me from sleeping. Horrible place, full of unhelpful people.
