We were surprised the place wasn't fully booked when we visited. The grounds are lovely, with something for everyone: a small farm where you can feed the animals, games rooms, sports equipment and activities, plus a beach store with gear you can borrow for free. We stayed in the chapel for three nights and found it just right. It was very clean, the gardens were neatly kept, and the kitchen had all we needed. There was milk, local drinks and fudge waiting for us when we arrived. We've been to several other parts of Devon, but this was easily our favourite stay anywhere in the UK.

We've tried at least four or five similar places in the UK, including luxury glamping, and this is our favourite place to stay. The rooms were clean and well looked after, and there's plenty to do around the grounds. We highly recommend it and will definitely return.

The peace and quiet at Pick well is what keeps bringing my husband and me back to the Hideaway treehouse. We've stayed twice now. Everything is spotless, and the crisp bedding is lovely. They also leave thoughtful treats for a cosy evening, a bottle of prosecco, big bags of crisps and a bar of chocolate, ready to enjoy by the log burner.

Having the hot tub to ourselves was a lovely extra. We spent a week in Bliss with our adult sons and their partners, and there was room for everyone to spread out or spend time together. The apartment felt homely, with a big lounge and a kitchen that had plenty of equipment; the bedrooms were comfortable and each had its own quirky character. The management team were very helpful when a problem came up, and sorted it out quickly and to our satisfaction. A great place to get away from everything.

The beach is a gorgeous stretch of sand that goes on for miles, about a 25-minute walk away. Just be ready for a very steep climb back uphill. The Rock Inn is an easy, level walk of around 15 minutes, and the food and service there were great. The house has lots of separate apartments to rent, with very large rooms. Everything was clean and tidy. You can hire the hot tub, and a couple of the smaller outdoor cottages have their own. We also rented the ballroom for a family celebration; it has plenty of tables, comfortable seating and doors opening onto the outdoor area. There’s table tennis in the games room, an outdoor tennis court, and a few small animals, including guinea pigs and bunnies.
