I've stayed here twice for work. The staff are lovely, the food delightful and the decor beautiful. My first room was stunning; the second was much smaller, though still very clean and cosy. Both rooms, despite being different standards, had the same problem for me: the mattresses were lumpy and flimsy. I'm not particularly heavy, but when I sit down the mattress goes flat and I can feel every spring. Cleanliness and a good bed are the two most important things in a hotel for me, so it's such a shame the beds let this place down. Please update the mattresses and you'd be perfect.

The entrance is lovely, and the hotel and staff were amazing. Our deluxe room was spacious and there was nothing to fault. For the price, the room, evening meal, breakfast and bottle of bubbly made for great value. A lovely stay, strongly recommend, and we'll definitely be back.

This was our third stay at the DA, and we'll be back. We were there for two nights while visiting family in Scotland from Yorkshire, with dinner both evenings. Parking was plentiful, and the reception hall and grand staircase are lovely, with a lift if needed. Our room connected by an internal door to our daughter's next door. We had a bath in 28 and a wet room in 29, which would suit someone less able, though we also enjoyed the walk-in shower. Breakfast was very good, with cereals, pastries, porridge and cooked options, and excellent service. The evening meals were very nice, with a good choice of starters, mains and desserts, and really nice service.

For the night I stayed, the price was very reasonable. The staff were great and added to a brilliant impression. It feels like a classic British hotel, with really luxurious appointments.

The room was decent, but far too hot, and there was no way to switch off the heating. The window faced the main road, so I couldn't leave it open. Breakfast was included, though it could be better.
