Afon Duad Inn

The lamb chops were tender and came in a generous portion with mash, vegetables, gravy and mint sauce. When I mentioned I needed to leave early, the barman checked with the chef and she made me a packed lunch that was spot on. The barman was cheerful and welcoming, and I also enjoyed a long chat with a couple about local attractions. I stayed in the cottage next door, which felt like a home away from home. It was clean and tidy, with an oven, microwave, fridge freezer and all the pots and pans. The cosy bed was warm and the bathroom was en suite. All in all, a lovely stay.

The hosts made us feel very welcome, and we also had a great evening at the inn next door, with good beer and food and a lovely big fireplace with a log fire. Our cottage was ideal for my small family: clean, modern and fully equipped, while still keeping its old cottage feel. Underfloor heating kept us warm, the kitchen worked well for self catering, and the two bathrooms were more than enough. Having parking just two or three steps from the door was a real bonus. We couldn't fault either the cottage or the inn and look forward to coming back. We wholeheartedly recommend both.

The staff were really friendly, and the place itself was clean, cosy and well maintained. Noise was the downside. The bar downstairs and the main road right beside it stayed audible late into the night, with cars still easy to hear through the closed windows.

The whisky was superb, and the food was tasty. The room was neat and clean, and the owners were so nice. A lovely little place, especially if you spend some time at the bar having a good chat. Highly recommended.
