Ibis Carlisle City Centre

For £79 a night, I have no complaints. It's a budget hotel, but very good value: the room was basic, with a small TV, a small wardrobe and no iron, yet it was clean and comfortable. The shower was powerful, staff were very friendly at check-in, and breakfast was decent for £12.50.

For the price, we had a really nice room. The easy check-in and very decent breakfast were good too. Our door was missing the glass peephole, but a coat covered it. We faced the nightclub and couldn't hear the noise, even with the windows open. I also want to mention the man working the counter at 9am this morning (12.10.25). I have epilepsy and had an episode, fell over and made a mess. He didn't laugh or anything. He helped me up and cleaned it for me. That's a big deal when this happens to me, because it's embarrassing, and the way he acted has restored my faith in people. Thank you so much. I hope management passes this on to you.

The staff were helpful and chatty, and breakfast was good with plenty of it. The porridge was excellent. Check-in was nice, and everything I needed to know was explained. It's good to see the hotel focused on the environment. It's a basic Ibis that could do with a refresh, but it's clean and centrally located. The rooms are a good size and have good showers. I'll book again if I'm back in Carlisle.

The reception staff were friendly, efficient and very apologetic. The hotel is close to the train station and nightlife, and a short walk from the football ground. At check-in, I was assigned to four different rooms and moved around. The first two had broken beds; the third had a soiled, wet mattress. Disgusting for such a large chain. The fourth was acceptable, but tired and a bit grubby. Managers only work days, apparently, and made no attempt to contact me or explain the obvious lack of standards and housekeeping. I've cancelled my bookings for the next four weeks and will never stay here again.
