We chose the Brantwood as a base for a day of fell running above Martindale, and it turned out to be a brilliant choice. The food was delicious, with lovely local produce and proper gluten-free options for my wife, who has a wheat intolerance. Our room was cosy and nicely done, the beds were comfortable, and the showers had great pressure. Everyone was welcoming, from the fun staff to the friendly regulars at the bar. Breakfast was lovely too. We couldn't have been happier, and we'll be back.

We stumbled across this place by chance and booked one night. Sharon was lovely from the first phone call and went out of her way to make our stay enjoyable. Richard and Sharon made us feel very welcome, and the hospitality was second to none. Our room was immaculate and had everything we needed. We had dinner in the bar: the Chicken Balti with rice, chips and mini Nan bread was delicious, Karen loved her BBQ ribs, and I had the Very Sherry Trifle for dessert. Breakfast was excellent as well. With breakfast, dinner, drinks, and a double room for the two of us, the bill came to under £180. That included 3 x 0% Thatchers ciders and 6 x 0% small bottles of San Miguel Lager. We'd definitely stay here again if we're visiting Penrith, Rheged or the Lakes.

We stayed overnight after joining local family for dinner, and the seven of us had excellent food and service in the restaurant. The room was warm and comfortable, and breakfast was spot on. Staff were welcoming throughout, and the public bar had a really nice atmosphere. Thanks to everyone for a great stay. We'll be back.

We were staying in the village and came here after finding that other pubs wouldn't accept dogs. The landlord was so friendly, shared some local tips, and made all of us, dogs included, feel welcome. We popped in a couple of times over the weekend, then came back the next afternoon for a belated Christmas Day with family. It was busy, but he noticed our Christmas jumpers and put on a couple of Christmas songs, which made the whole thing even funnier and more enjoyable. We sat, had drinks and played games, and all the staff we met were lovely. Thanks from all of us for making our February Christmas one to remember.

I was here for two weeks with colleagues on a work trip, and the staff made it feel relaxed and enjoyable. Sue and Sharon deserve a special mention, and Sue looked after us so often. They're lovely people. The hotel has a cosy atmosphere and plenty of character, with clean, comfortable rooms that were nice and warm in December. We ate at the bar and restaurant every day, and the food was delicious every time. Getting here was easy, there's plenty of parking, and the location worked well for travelling or working nearby. I'd happily return to Brantwood Hotel in Stainton, Penrith, and recommend it for the comfort, service and charm.
