We had a pleasant, good value stay for three nights over half term, on our first short visit to Liverpool. The location worked well, and we walked everywhere in town. The pool and gym were great additions, though busy periods like half term made them hard to enjoy. They ran a booking system to help manage the flow. Our superior room was comfortable. The queen bed was bigger than expected, maybe US size, and the mattress was just firm enough for me. The double sofa bed was smaller than I'd hoped, so one of my kids ended up sharing my bed. Its mattress was much softer, but my other child didn't mind. The separate toilet space was practical, except the only sink was in the shower room. A tiny sink in the toilet would make the room perfect. The shower pressure was fantastic. The website advertised a magnifying makeup mirror, but our room didn't have one, which was disappointing. Breakfast had a good range and a pancake machine that was a hit with kids and adults. The hot breakfast and other items were mass catering standard, not great, though about what you'd expect from comparable options. There were other things to balance it out, including cheese, fresh fruit, baguettes, yoghurt, seeds, dried fruit and a great selection of Clipper teas.

I got there early expecting only to leave my bags, but my room was ready before 1pm. The receptionist was lovely, though I didn't catch her name. I'm pretty sure I was upgraded, which was a lovely surprise. Room 308 was perfect, and I hope I get it every time. The big comfy bed and little treats in the room were such a nice touch. I felt really welcome. I was happily lounging in my room and didn't get to enjoy the welcome drink. I'll absolutely recommend the hotel and will be back.

The first night was noisy, with lots of shouting in the street and building work opposite starting at 7am. I know that wasn't the hotel's fault. After breakfast I asked whether we could move to a quieter room on a higher floor. It was half term, so I wasn't sure there'd be one available, but the helpful receptionist said she'd arrange something while we ate. Breakfast was delicious and had lots of choice. It was busy, but we were seated immediately and helped ourselves to food and drinks. Our second night was much better in a room on the 8th floor overlooking the back of the hotel. We also went swimming that evening, and the changing rooms were clean with towels available. Great check in and another great stay in Liverpool.

The bar, pool and communal areas were lovely and warm, and every staff member was welcoming and helpful. Breakfast was superb, with good quality food that set us up for the day, though we had to hunt around for cutlery, napkins and bowls. The pancake machine was also a lot to figure out first thing in the morning. We were in room 1018 for one night and slept superbly. It's about a 10/15 minute walk from Lime Street. The hotel isn't the plushest, but the room had a very comfortable bed, good blackout curtains, a nice temperature and decent, quiet noise levels. Some small things could be improved, like locks on the toilet and bathroom doors, more TV channels, and cleaning or removing the stained chair in the corridor. Very good value. I'd recommend it and stay again.

We had to bring our little one along, and being a bit early wasn't a problem for them. We sat with drinks at the bar and watched people. There's a small play area downstairs by the swimming pool, and I think he was gutted he wouldn't get to use it. Daniela and Ethan handled our reservation easily, and the front of house service was excellent. I'd recommend this if you fancy trying something different for lunch. We'd received Scouse afternoon tea as a gift and weren't sure what to expect, but it was a lovely surprise. It wasn't a traditional afternoon tea. We had salt and pepper chicken skewers, scouse on toast, fish cakes, Oreo brownies, macaroni, New York cheesecake, and a baby Guinness each.
