The Old Millhouse

We spent a wonderful week at The Old Millhouse, enjoying the house and exploring the area. It’s a lovely home in Dalkeith, just right for a big family gathering. Sally takes care of any guest request, and I’d definitely recommend staying here. We’d love to return. The peaceful setting is pastoral, with beautiful gardens and everything you need for a relaxing holiday. It’s also close to Edinburgh, St. Andrews and other golf courses in the area.

Sally made our visit so much easier and more enjoyable. She was great at communicating and knows the area well, and anything we needed was handled quickly and perfectly. We had an amazing time. There aren’t enough stars for this place, and you’ll feel like royalty here.

Sally’s genuine hospitality made our stay at The Old Millhouse even more special. Her local knowledge and thoughtful tips for tours and scenic spots made every day feel full of discoveries. The Orangery was a highlight for me, bright and open, with lovely views across the land. We were lucky to spot deer and other local wildlife there. The house is enchanting, blending old-world charm with modern comforts. Each room felt warm and full of character, with tasteful, timeless decor. We could unwind in the hydrotherapy tub under the stars or settle in the cozy snug with a drink. It was a peaceful, beautiful retreat in the Scottish countryside, and somewhere I can’t recommend highly enough.

Sally, the owner, was the perfect host and the icing on the cake. We’ll definitely come back, this time with family. There were only two of us, but the place didn’t feel too big at all. It was perfect. We’ve been travelling for over six months, and The Old Mill House was one of the very best places we stayed. It was immaculately clean and perfectly located. The gardens were stunning, full of deer, squirrels and birds, and a river wound through the bottom of the property. I could go on and on.
