Riverside Cottage B&B

We picked this place after reading the great reviews about Graham and looking at the photos, hoping to use it as a base for hikes while driving around Scotland. It lived up to what people had said. The location was quiet and good value, and the host was welcoming. Our room was spacious and very clean, with a great en suite bathroom. Breakfast was amazing, and the amenities were traveller-friendly. My partner and I highly recommend it.

The man I spoke to was rude the whole time. I asked about booking a night and whether they had a travel cot for our eight-month-old baby. They didn’t, which is understandable, but he also said our baby could only stay if they “didn’t cry at all”. I asked whether he could put our bottle steriliser in the microwave in the morning, since it takes two minutes, and he flatly refused. There’s no problem with a place not having a travel cot, but there was no need for him to be so extremely rude.

The hosts are friendly and accommodating, and we’ve stayed here more than once. It’s a short drive from Invarary, Oban and Loch Awe, isolated but still easy to get to. The rooms are clean, comfortable and well equipped. Breakfast is worth what it costs. The bacon, black pudding, sausages and eggs are all proper quality, not bargain supermarket food. This place clearly cares about quality. Thanks for looking after us so well.

The host was friendly and made an effort to chat a little after breakfast. The room was very clean and comfortable, and the location was peaceful. I stayed here for work, and the breakfast was delicious too. I’d highly recommend the place.
