Browns Dartmouth

The hosts were great, and the food was delicious, made with lovely ingredients and cooked at home. We had breakfast and dinner one evening and really enjoyed both. It’s a great hotel, and we liked it so much we hope to return in August. Would definitely recommend!

Brown's was recommended to us for its location and friendly welcome, and it lived up to both. Mike, the owner, was warm and accommodating, and the cooked breakfasts were delicious. This boutique hotel has plenty of character, including sloping floors and the odd creaky floorboard, along with heaps of charm. It’s perfectly placed for exploring town, and the welcome glass of fizz was a lovely touch. We’ll be back, thank you!

The location is ideal, just a short walk from the harbour and town, and the parking permit was much appreciated. The main car park can take a few loops before a space opens up, but it’s convenient. Our room was spotless apart from a little black mould in the shower, which should be easy to remove. It was very comfortable, with a good bed and everything we needed, though shampoo and conditioner would be useful. Breakfast was lovely, especially the porridge. A friendly, well-run hotel with superb staff and great food. Highly recommended!

The Lower Ferry was a highlight in itself on our trip across to Coleton Fishacre Gardens. The skipper’s skill in getting it from one shore to the other was remarkable, and we found it much more interesting than the larger cable ferry at the other end of town. Brown's Hotel has its own character and relaxing comfort, clearly reflecting the owners’ tastes rather than the samey feel of many hotels. The staff were consistently kind, friendly and helpful, and we received a warm welcome. Rooms are spacious, spotlessly clean and comfortable, with very large beds and thoughtful details that make an effort to anticipate guests’ needs. The hotel has a wonderful atmosphere and is ideally located close to everything you’d want to do. We really enjoyed our visit and look forward to returning, perhaps for one of the seasonal or musical events at the hotel or in town. We strongly recommend Brown's Hotel, Dartmouth.
