Mounthaven Guest House

We came to Dartmouth to see in the New Year, and the pictures of the view convinced me to book. Seeing it in person was just as good, with incredible views of the town, river, and castle out to sea. The hosting was impeccable, as so many reviews say, and Shaun is extremely knowledgeable and happy to help with even the smallest request. Breakfast was amazing and very reasonably priced. I'd highly recommend this guest house, and we'll definitely be back.

The hosts were wonderful and friendly, and breakfast was amazing. It's an absolutely lovely guest house, with a spotless room that had everything you'd need. You won't be disappointed.

Breakfast was delicious, and there’s parking on site. We stayed in the smallest room, the one with the college view, and it was lovely. We also glimpsed one of the Dartmouth-facing rooms, though, and it looked like a whole other level. A scenic walk takes you into town, and the hosts were excellent.

We were greeted with tea and cake, which we enjoyed on the terrace overlooking Dartmouth. That same lovely view accompanied breakfast, with plenty of English options and special dishes like smoked kippers and local smoked salmon with avocado. The hosts were warm and had good suggestions for things to do. The Round Robin by boat, coach and steam train was a holiday highlight. Our room was small but clean and well equipped, with a view of the marine college. The bathroom was spacious and spotless, though the very hot shower was tricky to adjust. We also found the mattress too wobbly for us.
