We ate at the restaurant both nights, and the food was excellent with a varied menu. My wife is vegetarian and had no trouble finding something to eat. Breakfast was one of the best we’ve had, easily top drawer compared with more refined places where it’s often just average. The Deddington Arms is more a traditional pub with rooms than a polished hotel, but the hospitality and food make up for the lack of modern wow factor. The bar is comfortable and has a great choice of drinks, though it can get lively when sport is on. Our room was simple and clean, with a powerful shower; anyone with limited mobility may want to ask about walk-in shower options. Deddington is a beautiful Cotswold village and a good base for nearby towns and villages. Great location for a weekend stay.

Quiet nights, good comfort, quality and great service. You get what you pay for here. It’s in a village, about a 10 minute drive from the main road, so the location is lovely if you don’t mind that. There are plenty of quaint English villages nearby, plus Bicester and Banbury are a short drive away. Meeting rooms are also available for “break away” days if needed.

The staff were friendly, and breakfast was good. The room was warm and the bed really comfortable, though some parts were a bit tatty. It seemed to have had a bit of a revamp, but the price for one night felt high. The bathroom setup was annoying: a shower curtain in the bath that sticks to you, and a fixed shower head that’s awkward if you’re around 5’11”.

The food was fantastic, and the staff stayed cheerful, friendly and attentive. They were short staffed, but still nothing felt like too much trouble.

That mixed breads starter was fresh and enjoyable, and the Deddington Arms has loads of character. The welcoming atmosphere made it seem like a great spot for a relaxed meal. But our main course took around 45 minutes to arrive, and when it did, it was cold and didn’t justify the wait. Other tables were facing long delays too, so service seemed to have wider problems that day. I try to support local businesses, but after this meal I won’t be back.
