Wellsfield Farm Holiday Lodges

We’ve stayed at Wellsfield several times on our holidays and have had a great experience each time. There’s room for our family, and we can book cabins close together, have our local friends over for small get-togethers, and eat in to save money and relax. It’s a quick drive to lots of landmarks, including both Edinburgh and Glasgow, so it’s easy to explore. We’ll keep staying at Wellsfield on future trips to the area.

The lodge facilities really impressed my family. The kitchen was fully equipped with more than enough kitchenware, and there was a washing machine too. There are lots of lovely local walks, and the staff were friendly and attentive. We arrived early and were able to check in straight away, which was nice.

Even with the rain, we had a brilliant weekend. The little pony trek on Orchid was great, and we even caught a fish. Check-in and check-out were easy, the place was easy to find, and the accommodation was immaculate. A smart TV would have been nice for the evening after the kids went to bed.

My daughter and I had a dreadful experience with the equestrian side of this business. The riding school is busy and very disorganised. I gave the booking system several chances and even tried to book lessons every Monday at the same time, but there were still problems: horses weren’t ready, my daughter was moved into group lessons when it suited them, and we got negative comments, tuts and sighs. I’ve seen senior staff speak very impatiently to young riders. I’d avoid this place if you’re learning to ride, especially if you’re inexperienced or lacking confidence. We’ve taken our business elsewhere and wish we’d done it sooner.
