Cosy rooms and lovely owners. What’s not to like?

For everything you get, this is the best bed and breakfast in Derby. The room had all I could need, including a fridge freezer, kettle, drinks and even a heater. The landlady was so nice too. I’ll definitely stay again. 5*

The people running the Braemar made me feel welcome from the first day, which really matters when you’re somewhere new for work. I’ve been contracting around Derby and have now stayed here for four weeks without a single complaint. It’s clean, and although the decor looks dated, I’ve grown fond of the place’s charm. At first I thought the price was cheap and the building a little old-fashioned, maybe even slightly run down. If you’re very particular and happy to pay more for a hotel while contracting, I’d say you’re missing out. A single room is £25 a night, or £30 for an en-suite. There’s a discount for Monday-Friday bookings of more than one night. I’ve enjoyed my stay. I’d rate it 4.9 out of 5. The main road out front can disturb you if your room faces it, though that shouldn’t affect you if you’re here for work in the area.

The landlady and staff were very friendly and made me feel welcome. The B&B is in a fantastic spot, about 10 minutes from the city centre, and good value for money. The rooms have what you need for a comfortable short stay, with tea and coffee making facilities, cable TV, Wi-Fi and towels. A full English breakfast is available on request. Highly recommended.
