For a one night stay before an early flight from East Midlands Airport in January 2026, this was reasonably priced and close by, with a free shuttle. It's at the end of a country lane, so you can't walk to amenities. Reception was friendly and got us checked in promptly that evening. We were sent to a small, functional chalet block apart from the hotel and bar. The decor was dated but fine for one night. The little bathroom was mostly clean, though some exposed pipes were dusty and dirty. We didn't go beyond reception in the main hotel, but the large open plan bar area we could see looked very nice. The grounds were well maintained, with a nice looking spot to sit outdoors by the water. The car park was large and gravelled, and we left our vehicle keys at reception. Both shuttle trips were prompt, and the drivers were professional and friendly. I'd recommend it if you need somewhere by the airport for a night.

The food was so good that my husband and I were still talking about it on our way home. We shared baked Camembert, then had the Christmas dinner in the restaurant on Saturday. The staff were attentive, handled our requests quickly and made everything feel easy. They even offered to take our three month old outside in the pram for a walk, which was very kind. We were meeting family friends here for Christmas and stayed in the cottages opposite. Our room was a little tired, but clean, warm and comfortable, with a good shower and the travel cot we'd requested. The accommodation and restaurant were both good value. We had a thoroughly good visit and hope to return at Easter and again next Christmas to meet up.

The Priest House has real character and atmosphere, and it's a great setting for my close up magic. Guests seem relaxed and engaged, which says a lot about the environment the venue creates. Each time I perform there, the team makes me feel welcome and valued. They communicate clearly, keep things organised behind the scenes, and pay attention to the details, so I can focus on the performance. Working with them is a great experience, and I always look forward to coming back. For an event with live entertainment like mine, The Priest House is a fantastic choice. Eddie Young Magic

The staff are cheerful and helpful, and the hotel is comfortable. Our room was good, with storage, a full length mirror and lovely hot water. Step outside, about 30 paces, and there's the river, ducks, swans, a heron, a very plump pheasant and the mill wheels. We arrived after watching the racing and had the Sunday carvery, which runs all day. I asked for sirloin blue to rare and that's how it came. Breakfast was a tasty mix of cold items and hot buffet, with what was clearly local bacon and sausages. I've been gluten free for 20 years, and was happy with bacon, flat mushrooms, beans, tomatoes and eggs. The evening menu is simple and well thought out, and the food was delicious and cooked wonderfully.

We checked in tonight for the weekend. The staff are friendly and polite, and the room and surroundings are lovely, but the wedding noise made the tower a very hard place to sleep. Someone with us has noise and light sensitivity from a brain injury, and the drunk guests were getting louder as the evening went on. We didn't know there was a wedding when we booked. If we'd known, we could have chosen somewhere else. Other guests should be told at booking so they can decide whether to stay. Service was slow and orders got mixed up. The prawn linguine main was fantastic, but my black pudding Scotch egg starter was ice cold in the middle. I understand cooking methods, but ice in your egg isn't good. Shame, because the staff and room are great. The noise is unacceptable for guests who aren't expecting it.
